sich duschen	to shower

sich waschen	to wash (oneself)
sich abtrocknen	to dry (oneself)
sich kämmen	to comb
sich rasieren	to shave

German reflexive verbs that take direct objects

With the verbs below, the reflexive pronoun will be in the dative case while the direct object of the verb is accusative.

Verbs affecting parts of the body


Verb	Example
sich kämmen Translation: to comb	Ich kämme mir die Haare. Translation: I'm combing my hair.
sich putzen Translation: to clean, to brush (teeth)	Wir müssen uns zweimal die Zähne putzen. Translation: We must brush our teeth twice.
sich waschen Translation: to wash	Habt ihr euch das Gesicht abgetrocknet? Translation: Have you dried your faces?
sich abtrocknen Translation: to dry	Wasch dir die Füße! Translation: Wash your feet!
sich rasieren Translation: to shave	Ich rasiere mir den Bart einmal im Monat. Translation: I shave my beard once a month.
sich schneiden Translation: to cut	Ihr schneidet euch die Nägel. Translation: You cut your nails.
sich zupfen Translation: to pluck	Ann zupfte sich gestern die Augenbrauen. Translation: Ann plucked her eyebrows yesterday.

Verb	Example
sich anziehen Translation: to put on	Ich ziehe mir die Hose an. Translation: I am putting on my pants. Wir werden uns einen Pullover anziehen. Translation: We'll put on a sweater. Haben Sie sich die Jacke schon angezogen? Translation: Have you put on your jacket yet? Den Mantel musst du dir aber noch anziehen. Translation: You'll still have to put on your coat. Setz dir die Mütze auf! Translation: Put on your cap! Marianne will sich einen Hut aufsetzen. Translation: Marianne wants to put on a hat.
sich ausziehen Translation: to take off	Tina hat sich die Schuhe ausgezogen. Translation: Tina has taken off her shoes.
sich binden Translation: to tie	Herr Maier bindet sich die Krawatte. Translation: Mr. Maier ties his tie. Zoe kann sich schon die Schuhe binden. Translation: Zoe already knows how to tie her shoes.
