Activity 1: Translate the Phrases

Read the phrases below in English and translate them into Brazilian Portuguese. Remember that Brazilian Portuguese often uses infinitives where English uses “-ing” verbs.

  1. The player needs to win the game today.

  2. I am writing this email to tell you something important.

  3. Would you like anything to eat?

  4. Knowing the basics of first aids is important.

  5. We might arrive late for the party.

  6. We arrived in Madrid after driving all night.

  7. There’s no point in waiting.
