Activity 1: Describe the images

Try to describe the images below by using the verb ter. Remember that ter can be used for:

  • Physical descriptions

  • Describing possession

  • Impersonal sentences

  • Describing inherent characteristics

  1. A headshot of a white man with brown hair, a bushy beard, and gray eyes.

  2. A photo of tall modern buildings in front of storm clouds. Some of the lights are on inside the towers.

  3. A photo of a slice of white cake topped with strawberries, strawberry sauce, and a sprig of mint.

  4. A photo of a teenage girl sitting on a bench hugging a large gray and black shepherd dog that is in her lap.

Activity 2: ‘ter’ vs. ‘ser’ vs. ‘estar’

Complete the sentences below with the appropriate verb: ter meaning to be , ser meaning to be, or estar meaning to be.

  1. Eu com sono porque dormi tarde ontem.

  2. Eu sempre sono de manhã.

  3. Marina um bom coração.

  4. Pedro, você dois minutos para falar comigo?
