The following common Brazilian Portuguese phrases using ficar and ficar com are used to describe emotions.


Phrase	Example
ficar louco Translation: to go crazy	Você ficou louco? Esse caminho é perigoso! Translation: Are you crazy? This way is dangerous!
ficar irritado Translation: to get irritated	Maria ficou irritada com o atraso da amiga. Translation: Maria was irritated by her friend's delay.
ficar triste Translation: to be sad	Não fique triste! Translation: Don’t be sad!
ficar assustado Translation: to be scared	Nós ficamos assustados com o barulho. Translation: We were scared by the noise.
ficar com receio Translation: to be afraid	Ficamos com receio de pagar isso adiantado. Translation: We are afraid to pay this upfront.
ficar com raiva Translation: to get angry	Fiquei com raiva do meu colega na reunião. Translation: I got angry with my colleague at the meeting.
ficar com ciúmes Translation: to be jealous	Pedrinho ficou com ciúmes do amigo. Translation: Pedrinho got jealous of his friend.
ficar com saudade Translation: to miss	Fico com saudade de você! Translation: I miss you!
