In Brazilian Portuguese conjunctions (linking words/phrases) come in two major types:

Coordinating conjunctions → link words, phrases, or clauses that perform the same function in a sentence
Subordinating conjunctions → introduce a clause that completes, describes, or otherwise adds information to the main idea of a sentence

Below we list the most important conjunctions in each group.
