How Fresco teaches

Seven kinds of activity, in every chapter

Fresco blends traditional and communicative methods and weaves the 5Cs throughout, so students build proficiency rather than vocabulary lists. These are the activity types a chapter is assembled from.

Communication-focused

Reading, writing, speaking and listening practiced in all three modes: interpersonal, interpretive and presentational.

Comprehensible input

Strategically scaffolded activities that push learners just past their comfort zone rather than holding them inside it.

Culturally focused

Language learning situated in engaging cultural explorations and cross-cultural comparisons.

Authentic materials

Curated real-world content made by native speakers, the part teachers otherwise spend their evenings hunting for.

Interdisciplinary connections

Academic content from other subject areas explored through Spanish.

Project-based learning

Meaningful projects encourage deeper understanding and personal connections.

Integrated performance assessments

Thematically aligned tasks that assess all three modes of communication together.

I've especially liked the high number of authentic resources. I've even used some of them myself!
