American Sign Language, inside Mango

ASL Inside brings American Sign Language to your classrooms, launched from the same platform your students already use for world languages. It's licensed from ASL Inside and added to Mango Passport or Mango Classroom as its own line item.

How it works

Give every student a voice

Students launch ASL lessons from inside the Mango platform and learn by modelling native ASL signers, at whatever pace they need. Lessons are practical from the start, so learners can hold a basic ASL conversation early rather than after a term of vocabulary drills.

It is quoted separately from your platform subscription rather than folded into it, because the content is licensed rather than built in-house. That is worth knowing early: it belongs in the budget line as its own item. Mango Navigators, the multi-language exploration curriculum, teaches ASL as one of its four languages. That is Mango's own exploration content, and a different thing from adding these courses.

What's in it

Built for a visual language

Four courses plus the features that make signing teachable on a screen, including the two a hearing teacher without ASL experience most needs.

ASL 101 & ASL 102

The two core courses, taught the way the world-language courses are: practical exchanges from the first chapter rather than a term of isolated vocabulary.

Fingerspelling Basics & Advanced

Two dedicated fingerspelling modules, covering the skill hearing learners most often skip and then need constantly.

The Magic Mirror

A visual comparison between a learner's own signing and a native signer's, giving real-time feedback. It is the equivalent of Voice Comparison for a language with no audio to compare.

Multiple sign models

More than one signer per concept, so learners meet a range of signing styles rather than treating one person's as the standard.

Cultural and grammar notes

The same in-lesson notes the world-language courses carry, written for ASL, including the grammar that has no spoken-language equivalent.

Automatically graded review

Vocabulary and review activities are marked automatically, so a teacher without ASL expertise can still see who is progressing.
