Italian without the textbook, mid-shutdown
When Hudson County Schools of Technology closed its buildings, Italian teacher Ottavio had to keep a language class going without the one thing a language class needs most: students talking to each other. The textbook was not going to carry that.
He retired it in favour of a resource his students could reach from home, and rebuilt the course around it. What he was after was not coverage but nerve: students confident enough to use Italian with each other at a point when the classroom itself was unavailable. That is what he got.

During a period of school closures it needed to move language instruction away from traditional textbook-based teaching.
