- How is Mango Passport® different from other language learning programs?
- Mango Passport® utilizes our Intuitive Language Construction® methodology to teach all four key components of a language – vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar and culture. Many other language learning programs focus heavily – or solely – on vocabulary without the other key elements needed for full conversational comprehension. Our content is focused on common conversations and cultural insights, so it will be more valuable and practical to use during your travels. Other programs teach random vocabulary and complex grammar skills that the average traveler will never need.
- Which Journey should I buy?
- Mango Languages suggests that you use the Journeys in order of One, Two and then Three, as the Journeys build on one another from lesson to lesson. So whether you’re just brushing up on your existing language skills, or if you’re a complete beginner, we suggest you start at Journey One. If you feel that you’ve purchased a Journey that is not appropriate for your skill level, no worries! We are more than willing to exchange your purchase for free for the first 60 days.
- Why does Mango ask for a username and password?
- When buying Mango Passport®, you’re required to create an account with a valid email address and password. This is required for two reasons:

- Returning customers-If you’ve previously purchased Mango Languages, you can use this information to simplify future purchases and access your previous download information.
- Do I need an Internet connection to access Mango?
- You will need a high speed Internet connection to initially purchase and download Mango Languages and the accompanying Mango On-The-Go!® MP3 files. Once the Mango desktop application is installed, you’ll also need a high speed Internet connection to activate and download your lessons. Once that has taken place, you’ll be able to access your Mango lessons free of any Internet connection.
- How do I use the Voice Compare feature?
- First make sure that your microphone is turned on and the volume is turned up. The Voice Compare feature is not available on every single slide. Look for the small box with a microphone icon in it next to the word or phrase on the slide. This will be located directly next to the box with the speaker in it that allows you to replay the native speaker’s voice. Click on the box with the microphone to begin using the voice compare feature. After you have clicked the correct icon, you can begin voice recording by clickin the red “record” button on the right hand side of the box. This will prompt a “3…2…1″ countdown in the box. This is NOT a time, but rather a countdown to when you are able to begin speaking. Wait until the countdown finishes and then speak into the microphone. When you press red record button on the right hand side of the “Voice Compare” box, there are gray boxes that will flash yellow as you speak into the microphone. This emulates your local volume.
The voice recording automatically ends when you are done speaking, so you do not need to click the red “record” button again to stop the recording. After you are done recording, drag “your voice line” to adjust it so it aligns with the narrator’s voice graph. Now, you can listen to each voice individually or at the same time to compare pronunciation and inflection.
