Where is the forum?
January 28, 2008 |
As you may have noticed, we don’t have the forum up at the moment. For those of you that have been using and enjoying the forum we apologize for this. The reason that we took it down was that we were using a packaged content management system that included a forum application. We quickly outgrew this prepackaged solution and found that we needed to develop our own custom applications to accomplish everything that we need to. The prepackaged software was getting in the way of growth and future development and we decided to part with it. We plan on incorporating community discussions into the lessons themselves and building a social network to replace the previous forum.

I’ve been a less than frequent user of Mango for a couple months now to learn Japanese. I wanted to learn that languages because when I started college last year my roommate turned out to be a Japanese exchange student. Anyways, I often used this site to start my learning of Japanese and my knowledge improved greatly at a pretty steady pace. I got through the first 8 lessons in a couple of months,(that may seem slow, mostly because I’m a music major in college right now), and one of the key factors to my learning was seeing the Japanese phrases in English. Recently, I’ve now not been able to see the English translations, and found out that it now requires a subscription. I was nevertheless unhappy about this, more so that it was 10$ per month at least to make use of this feature. As a freshmen in college funds are a little tight, and I don’t have the money to throw around for extra subscriptions. With the help of my roommate, I’ve become more and more interested in the Japanese culture and language, and therefore have been seriously considering changing majors to teach English to Japanese students or teach in Japan. So if anyone by chance is reading this, I hope they realize this feature is incredibly useful and shouldn’t cost 10 dollars a month to see. However I am in no way downing on what mango languages has got running here. It’s an incredibly useful sight and if I had the money I would totally be using the pro subscription right now. Keep up the good work mango!
Hi,
I’ve enjoyed MANGO for some time now and think that you guys have done a tremendous job of putting together what I consider to be the best language site out there.
[EDITED] I would reccomend using a different narrator.[/EDITED]
