Students Love Mango.

Mango recently surveyed users at academic institutions and found that over 90% of respondents reported an improvement in their language skills from using Mango.  But that wasn’t all – they had lots of great things to say about their Mango experience.  Check it out:

students Students Love Mango.

“I’ve been learning Japanese in my free time so I’ll be ready for an exchange in the near future. Mango has made it so much easier to learn Japanese and I’ve been telling all of my college friends about it.“

“I like Mango’s portability, as I have it connected on both iPad® and my Android™ phone. Whenever I need it, Mango is there!”

“I love that it covers many aspects of learning the language and gives you the opportunity to practice.”

“It offers a variety of languages – and languages that are relevant.”

“I love how simple it is to navigate and how clear the voices of the ‘teachers’ are.”

“I love how it keeps reviewing previously learned material.”

“Manageable chunks of information make me feel like I’m making progress.”

“I really like using Mango. I have been able to grasp the language much better than when I took a class on it.  And I can remember much more, even if I take a long break in between sessions.”

“The format of lessons is well done: breaking down sentences, teaching the words, and showing how things change when used in another context.  This has been very useful, especially in learning long or otherwise difficult phrases.”

“I like the availability and the accessibility.  I can pick it up and use it whenever I want to.”

“I love this program. It has proved beneficial for every situation I have found myself in.”

Gratuliere, Franklin County Public Library.

Congrats (or “Gratuliere” as you’d say in German!) to Franklin County Public Library for being selected as the library with the “Most Outstanding Usage” for the month of November!  FCPL said that Mango is offered via the library to the local school district, which attributes to their excellent usage.

Don’t forget, in January we’ll be selecting our final nominee for “Most Outstanding Usage” before conducting the Grand Prize drawing.  The Grand Prize winner will receive $500 towards throwing a Mango Day at their library, in addition to cool prizes for their patrons!  Good luck to everyone!

Be a Blog Star.

Looking for an easy and effective way to increase awareness of your resources among staff members and patrons?  Consider starting a blog to promote your library’s different resources – including Mango.  It’s a great way to market your library and the services it provides, as well as to spread information to staff members and encourage feedback and discussions.

blog Be a Blog Star.

Lindy Brown from Corvallis-Benton County Library provided us with a great example of how libraries can increase awareness of digital resources via blogging.  She created an internal blog for her library that features a different database every week.   Staff members are encouraged to check out the blog to keep informed of all the library’s latest offerings and know how to promote these resources and answer patron questions.  To encourage discussion among employees, any reader that leaves feedback on the blog is automatically entered into a drawing to receive a complimentary prize pack!  Click here to check it out.

Internal blogs are great for training and boosting awareness among your staff; but external blogs can also do a great job of promoting resources directly to patrons.  Interested in setting up a blog for your library?  It’s easy to get started – just make sure you identify the content and scope of your blog and you’ll be on your way.  For example, it can be used to increase awareness of services you provide, promote new resources, encourage use of databases, or even used as a space to provide targeted information about different interests.

And Mango Languages makes it even easier for you to get started.  We provide pre-written blog posts in the “Free Resources” section of the MAP.  Feel free to copy them verbatim or tweak them to fit the needs of your own blog!  Need additional support?  Call our Client Care team at 1.877.MANGO11 – we’d be happy to help you get started.

Have you used blogging or other social media to spread the word about the resources your library offers?  Or perhaps you’re doing something else to promote Mango to your patrons?  Whatever you’re doing, we’d love to hear about it!  Just email your Client Care Rep.  We may even feature your story in an upcoming newsletter or blog so that it can provide inspiration to other libraries!

Relationship Experts.

From changing passwords and activating accounts to explaining the ins and outs of Mango and even providing moral support, our Customer Relations rock stars help you by helping your patrons.

meagan2 Relationship Experts.

Here’s what Customer Relations Manager Meagan had to say about how Mango’s customer service benefits you and your patrons:

“Patrons can contact us directly – which is great for us, them and librarians. When I speak to patrons directly, I can get the most information be able to solve their problem and get them back learning as quickly as possible.  We solve patrons’ obstacles efficiently without burdening busy librarians.

The patrons I talk to are always so excited to use the product, which makes me excited to help them.  At the end of the day, I’m here to help people enrich their lives with language and culture.  That’s the cool part.

I’m also here for moral support.  Some patrons are overwhelmed by the complexities of technology.  I help them overcome the technology, simplify the experience and start their language-learning experience on the right foot.”

Meagan receives raving positive feedback from patrons on a daily basis via shout outs on social media and has even been rewarded a certificate of appreciation from a patron for how much she helped them.

Mango’s outstanding customer service is one of the many ways we work to partner with libraries.  As your partner, our goal is to enrich the lives of your patrons without complicating yours.

Find Mango, Gain Patrons.

Have we mentioned how much we love our clients?  Let’s mention it again.  Mango is committed to helping our customers fulfill their growing language learning needs with the most effective and engaging tools around.  That includes developing tools and campaigns to help you maximize the value of our services by driving traffic to your library.

Screen Shot 2012 11 12 at 5.41.50 PM Find Mango, Gain Patrons.

Enter FindMango.com.  This website was created to drive more traffic to your branch by helping patrons find nearby libraries that offer Mango.  All they have to do is enter their zip code.  From there, they are linked directly to your site and are instructed on how to access Mango.  We even remind users to give their librarian a high five when they sign up for a card!

In addition, each time a Mango user shares their progress on Facebook or Twitter via our Social Media Feature, the post links directly to FindMango.com.  So let’s say that library patron “Rita” decides to share on Facebook that she just finished Chapter 3 of Mango Spanish, and her friend “Vanessa” sees it.  Vanessa doesn’t know what Mango is, so she clicks on the link to FindMango.com.  Within minutes, she’s able to find the nearest library that offers Mango Languages.  Just another example of how Mango works to spread the word about your resources and drive patrons through your doors.

Roll Camera, Boost Awareness.

Looking for a fun and effective way to increase usage?  Well grab your camera and your director’s hat – because Mango is ready for it’s close up.

mango video Roll Camera, Boost Awareness.

We’re talking about creating a promotional video.  It’s a fantastic way to spread word about Mango, raise awareness of your digital resources, and have some fun in the process.  Our library partners have been super-creative with the videos they’ve created in the past: some highlight how Mango benefits patrons, others focus on providing a tutorial for the program.

Here are a few tips for creating a top-notch video for your library:

 1.  Focus on a theme.

Cinco de Mayo right around the corner?  Or perhaps the Chinese New Year?  Focusing on a cultural celebration or topic of relevancy is a great way to get patrons motivated to explore a foreign language.

 2.  Show patrons how Mango can benefit them.

Have a large population of non-native English speakers in your community?  It’s a great opportunity to talk about Mango’s large selection of ESL courses, all of which are taught in the user’s native language.  Perhaps you have religious organizations in the area that may find interest in Mango’s Religious & Scholarly Course Collection.  Or you could simply focus on the many benefits of second language acquisition, such as increased job prospects and the chance of a higher salary.

3.  Share the love!

Once the video is “in the can” – as they say in Hollywood – be sure that your efforts don’t go unnoticed!  Post it to a video hosting site, such as YouTube or Vimeo, and share the link on all of your social media pages, such as Facebook, Twitter, or Google Plus.

To provide you with some inspiration, we’d love to share an A+ example created by one of our partner libraries, Frisco Public Library in Frisco, TX.  Their video is both fun and informative – something that’s sure to catch their patrons’ attention!  Thanks for letting us share, FPL!
